Aftermath of Flo

Well, it's mostly over for us. My little town may have some flooding to contend with in the coming days as the river crests and flows out. We may still be without power, with what seems to be several more days before it is returned. We may have lost everything in our fridge/freezer.

BUT...

It could have been so much worse.

There are many surrounding towns, particularly East and South East of us, that will be without power for much longer than I will be and many who have lost everything they own. We were so lucky that the storm made the turn it made and we were just on the far edge of the storm.

So now, we are in the waiting stage. Waiting for the water to recede. Waiting for the power to come back on. All while life keeps on moving. My children have gone back to school and we have returned to work. We are thankful for the first responders who kept us safe throughout the storm and provided rescue where needed. We are thankful for the restaurants, (Luna Pizza, Villa Verde, Bateeni Mediterranean Grill to name a few) who have provided free meals to the first responders during the storm and the community after. We are thankful for the many community organizations and businesses (Grifton Mission Ministries, Baptist Men's Disaster Relief, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Mike Rogister Allstate Insurance, Duracell, East Carolina University are just a few) that are accepting donations to assist in the storm devastated areas.

The upcoming days will include cleaning up debris from our yard, my parents yard, and helping neighbors who need assistance. I will rebuild our fridge/freezer stock. Deep clean the house from being shut-up with no a/c, definitely will be diffusing Purification during this time. Purification does just what it says.
