Kinda Crunchy

I don't really consider myself fully "Crunchy" but rather more like a "Kinda Crunchy" mama. With that being said, I am well on the road to natural living. But first, a little backstory...

A little over 10 years ago...
In a land far away, not really. This isn't a fairy tale but I am striving for my happily ever after with the health changes I have made in my life and the life of my family over the ten years and will continue to do until the day my happily ever after occurs.

Ten years ago, at my postpartum check-up after the birth of my son, I found out I had an enlarged thyroid. I praise the Lord for my OB/GYN because she caught this and referred me to an endocrinologist. After tests, biopsies, and ultrasounds, the Endocrinologist informed me he suggested we have surgery. You see the ultrasound showed a growth and the biopsy was inconclusive for that dreaded word, that C word, you know the one I mean. So a plan was set. During surgery they would send a sample off for examination, if it wasn't cancerous they would just take 1/2 my thyroid, if it was, the whole thing. The result was cancer. So now, I am short a thyroid and 11 lymph nodes from my neck area. I am so thankful that it was caught early. The type of cancer I had was one of the most common types of Thyroid cancer you could have (Papillary thyroid carcinoma), has a slow rate of growth and is rarely fatal.

It took many months for the Doctor to get my prescription adjusted and after two full-body scans with radioactive iodine and all that it entails, I felt that I was on the road to being Cancer-free and living the rest of my life as a normal person. More on that later.

Heading off to school

Celiac's Disease...
Now, we move on a few years and it's time for my oldest child to start school. She's excited! I'm excited! It's wonderful! During the first few months of school, we realize there is an issue. She is so tired all the time, complains of her stomach and head hurting. Celiac's Disease runs in my husbands family but it never occurred to us that our children would have to deal with the issue. Surely, something his uncle had to deal with wouldn't manifest in our children's lives, but it seems that it has. We refused the intestinal biopsy, which was the only way to verify our feelings offered to us, and made the change at home on our own. We eliminated any gluten from her diet and saw a dramatic change in her energy and her stomach and headaches went away. She still gets them as cross-contamination happens even in the best situations, but the change in her life has been tremendous.

Today...
I am now also gluten free due to the tons of research I've have done relating thyroid cancer/issues with gluten intolerance/Celiac's disease. I continue to learn more every day and make changes as I can to help make my life better.

Life is good!
All because I decided to make small changes to help improve my health and the health of my family. I'm gonna share with you some of the things I do that can make you healthier and happier too!

It's important to be aware that God did not create our bodies to endure processed fake foods or to inhale, ingest and slather chemicals on our bodies. These toxins put great stress on our bodies. They cause systemic inflammation, screw up our hormones and can completely ruin our gut health/immune system. Free radicals are overtaking our bodies, cells are mutating...well, you get the picture and it isn't pretty.

The more toxins you can alleviate, the less stress on your body, the healthier you will be.

I will introduce you to the ways I have/am replacing the toxins in my home and diet to direct me to a healthier life.

Let me know the ways that you're chasing the toxic chemicals out of your home and diet or if you have a great natural product we should know about! I'm all ears!

If you enjoyed this I would really appreciate if you commented below!
